CHELIMO LAUNCHES BID FOR GOVERNOR ELGEYO MARAKWET

Eng Anthony Chelimo has today launched his bid for Elgeyo Marakwet Gubernatorial race at an auspicious occasion in Iten stadium. As a precursor to the mega launch, the focused engineer witnessed the finals of the Chelimo cup which he has sponsored.

The man who plans to take the mantle from the outgoing governor Alex Tolgos, elucidated the contents of his manifesto which aims to address pertinent issues like Infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare and security just to mention but a few.

For instance in the area of security, Mr Chelimo who is an astute business cum politician, plans to work closely with the national government to construct and equip modern police posts and stations which will be manned using the latest technology which he is a brainchild of.

Elgeyo Marakwet stares at security threats of banditry from the volatile neighboring counties of Baringo and west Pokot.

In the area of Agriculture, Mr Chelimo who steers the ship of the National Vision Party, which he has worked tirelessly to revive, explained his plan

“Elgeyo Marakwet county is an agrarian region blessed with fertile arable soil which we can irrigate and make our county food sufficient. The county is the best producer of the sweetest mangoes and the incoming Governor Eng. Chelimo intends to set up processing factories in a bid to create job employment to the youths.

On youth, women and persons with disabilities, Mr Chelimo intends to hone their skills through TVETs and cottage industries so that they can earn a decent income and be financially stable.

Central Organization of Trade Union Secretary General Francis ATWOLI has urged shop stewards not to vote for Nairobi Gubernatorial Aspirant Johnston Sakaja. Speaking during a meeting organized at the labour union headquarters in solidary house Nairobi to meet shop stewards early today afternoon.

Mr. Atwoli said; “the Nairobi senator is working with bad corrupt people and cannot allowed to become the Nairobi governor.”

KENYA SCOUTS ASSOCIATION RESUMES OPERATIONS AFTER GETTING SUED

The Kenya Scouts Association has today resume operations after getting sued by Mr Francis Juma, a former member of the association who has suspended and later expelled by the organization.

The organization which has members to the tune of 2.5 million members had its operations suspended on April 6th 2022 by the high court of Kenya after seeing sued by Mr. Francis Juma. The organization however remained tight lipped on why the former member decided to sue the organization citing it prejudicial to a court process already underway involving the organization.

Speaking during a press conference held today afternoon Chief Commissioner for Kenya Scouts Association Mr. Victor Radido said; “We have received a valid stay order from the high court to continue operations and urge all members to continue with scouting initiatives to include planting of trees”

The association also refuted claims that the situation was politically instigated saying the Kenya Scouts Association is a Non-Political organization and is not involved in Political affairs

Jubilee Party Candidate for Mathare Constituency Kevin Bahati Kioko also Bahati has come out to talk about how hard life has been since he got the nomination certificate to vie for the Mathare Constituency member of parliament position. Speaking during the press conference at a Nairobi Hotel the musician turn politician said; ” I understand that there is zoning and Mathare is an ODM zone.. I received a call from a Jubilee Party Official who told me that I fairly won the nomination and there is zoning and that Mathare constituency is considered an ODM zone.

Speaking during the press conference the musician turned politician said he will not take back the certificate and he will be on the ballot in the coming election. He further appealed to the President and the Prime Minister. Asked what He will do if the party does not submit his name to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission the musician said He will consider vying as an independent candidate if such a scenario happens

PROSECUTE CORRUPT POLITICIANS NOW NOT AFTER ELECTIONS CIVIL SOCIETY URGES DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS

A section of Civil Society Organizations to include the Elections Observation Group, Centre for Multiparty Democracy, Constitution and Reform Education Consortium, Transparency International, Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa and Mzalendo Institute in a joint press conference to give an opinion on the just concluded political parties nomination exercise has today urged the Director of Public Prosecutions Mr. Nordin Haji to prosecute corruption cases now and not to wait until after the 2022 general elections. This comes in response to a statement by the Director of Public Prosecutions who said that politicians involved in graft will be prosecuted after the elections to be held in August 2022

While responding to a question by the whistling African if the move by the DPP is strategic and geared towards not giving the said politicians political clout ahead of the August 2022 General elections. Transparency International Executive Director Ms Sheila Masinde said ;” Waiting until after elections to begin prosecution of the said cases will be justice delayed and a traversty of the same justice”

The group commended the use of technology by Orange Democratic Movement ODM, heightened security by security agencies and better organized primaries. Equally the group condemned cases of misinformation, and cases of election violence as experience in Nakuru, Migori and Homabay county.

SIGN LANGUAGE APPLICATION LAUNCHED IN KENYA

TIM WANYONYI HINTS AT GOING FOR GOVERNOR POST

Candidate for the Nairobi Governor position and Westlands Member of Parliament Hon Tim WANYONYI Has hinted at going for governor posoition. Tim WANYONYI said he is waiting for the decision of the Azimio Coalition to be made on Thursday.

This comes in the wake of a section of political lobby groups called into question the academic degree certificate credentials of front runner for the same position Richard Ngatia. For a candidate to vie for the Governor or Deputy governor position he or she must be in possession of a degree certificate.

Hon Tim had in the past offered to support Richard Ngatia for the position with Him taking in the deputy governor position

COHESION COMMISSION LAUNCHES HATE LEXICON

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission NCIC early today at the commission offices in Upper Hill Nairobi launched the hate speech lexicon – a compendium of hate words mostly used by politicians in the run up to the general elections to be held in August 2022

Some of the words include Fumigation, Uncircumcised, Eliminate. Some of the words used in Kiswahili include: Kafiri to mean without faith, Madoadoa which is used to refer to people who are non-locals, Mende to mean cockroach. Other words in Swahili used informal include Kama Noma Ni Noma to mean if it bad let it get worse.
