The Church and Clergy Association of Kenya through Its Chairman Bishop Hudson Ndeda accompanied by Secretary General Bishop Geoffrey Gichuki have come out to condemn the burning of 5 churches in Kisui county
Speaking at Biblica House along Dennis Pritt Road Bishop Ndeda called for investigative bodies to move with speed to expose the persons behind the arson incidences and the motive behind the buring of the churches.
Additionally the Church and Clergy Association called the government to assist in the restoration of the places of worship back to form.
The Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture Hon Peter Munya early today afternoon confirmed that 15 counties to include Marsabit, Wajir, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Mandera, Machakos, Kitui, Isiolo, Samburu, Laikipia, Meru and Tharaka Nithi Counties have been affected by desert locust invasion.
Speaking during the press briefing at the ministry Kilimo House headquaters Mr Munya said so far the total area that has been sprayed for the locusts is 19,100 Ha an exercise which the CS added was largely successful.
To curb the menace the Cabinet secretary said the ministry has established 8 control bases strategically in Isiolo, Marsabit, Masinga, Garissa, Turkana(lodwar), Mandera, Lamu(Witu) and Taita Taveta to cordinate the management operations.
The Cabinet Secretary further added that with assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organizations FAO, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD the Ministry has been able to train 500 NYS staff, deployed 9 surveillance and spray aircrafts, with 3 on standby, 21 vehicles for ground control operations and provided sufficient pest control pesticides both at the headquarters and all the field control offices.
On the families which have been affected the cabinet secretary said the Ministry will offer cash transfer to help restore the livelihoods of those affected and also offer animal feeds to farmers with various livestock.
A section of professionals from the Gabra Community have today called out Marsabit Governor, Mohammed Ali, Saku Member of Parliament Dido Ali Raso, Moyale member of Parliament Hon Quliacha Dida and Isiolo Women Representative Hon Rehema Jaldesa who they sat in a well crafted public statement made on Monday this week painted the Gabra community as owners of a militia group and Ukur Yatani, who is the cabinet secretary for Treasury and National Planning as behind the insecurity in Marsabit County.
The section of professional claimed that this was driven largely by hate and jealously of the Borana Community against the cabinet secretary who hails from the Gabbra community. The leaders in a press statement went of to argue that since his appointment as Cabinet secretary on February 2018 the number of pubic attacks on the person of the cabinet secretary by the leaders has been unceasing.

The current ongoing Nurses strike has entered its 36th Day today. This is according to the acting National Chairman of the Kenya National Union of Nurses Joseph Ngwasi who was speaking early today at the Union Offices in Uchumi House along Agha-Khan Walk in Nairobi
According to Deputy Secretary General of The Nurses Union Maurice Onyango who also spoke during the press conference said, “The meeting that was supposed to be held with the Council of Governors to signing of the return to work to work formula did not take place” Mr Maurice accused the Council of Governors of developing cold feet in signing of a return to work formula.
The Deputy Secretary Urged the Nurses to stay put and not go to work until the return to work formula is signed by the Council of Governors.
The President of the Supreme Court of Kenya and Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya Justice David K. Maraga is expected to hand over the reigns of power to his deputy Justice Philomena Mwilu later today.
According to the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Article 167 sub-article (1) a judge of the High Court or Chief Justice is expected to resign from either of the offices upon attainment of the age of 70years.
Justice David K. Maraga was born in on 12th January 1951, at the age of 26 years he was later admitted as advocate of the High Court on 16th October 1978 and later served as Judge of the High Court between October 2003 and 2011. David K Maraga would later be appointed as Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya on 19th October 2016 and has served in the position to date.
Justice K Maraga perhaps will be known for the controversial nullification of the 2017 Presidential elections pitting President Uhuru Kenyatta and Arch-rival Raila Omollo Odinga and most recently his advisory opinion to the president Uhuru Kenyatta Urging him to dissolve parliament for failure to achieve gender parity in parliament (Two-thirds Gender rule) a provision in the Constitution calling for gender parity in constitutional offices.
A director at the Revenue Collector Kenya Revenue Authority late last week recieved the nomination certificate to vie for the Kabuchai By- election which is scheduled to be held on 4th March 2021 on the newly formed United Democratic Alliance. The seat fell vacant following the death of area member of Parliament James Mukwe Lusweti who was a close ally of area senator Moses Wetangula
Evan Kakai who hails from Bamutilu clan will contest for the seat alongside various other contenders to include Majimbo Kalasinga (Ford Kenya) who hails from the Abalako, the third largest clan across Mukuyuni and Chwele/Kabuchai wards and whose mother hails from the dominant Abatukuyika clan variables he hopes will catapult him to victory. Other candidates are Amos Wekesa (Federal Party of Kenya), Peter Kapanga (Independent), Dr Gasper Wafubwa (Independent), David Kibiti (former Bungoma Public Administration CEC) and Scholastic Murunga (Independent).
